A left-wing activist who recently disrupted a worship service at a Minneapolis church has now been identified as William Kelly, a repeat agitator who previously targeted a Washington, D.C., congregation attended by conservative media figure Pete Hegseth, as reported by The Daily Wire.

Kelly interrupted a church service in Minneapolis by standing up mid-worship and shouting political slogans, temporarily halting the service and unsettling congregants. Video of the incident circulated online, showing parishioners attempting to maintain order as the disruption unfolded inside what was meant to be a space of prayer and reverence.

According to The Daily Wire, this was not an isolated outburst. Kelly previously targeted a church in Washington, D.C., attended by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. That earlier incident followed a similar pattern: deliberate disruption of a worship service in order to advance a political message hostile to conservative Christians.

Kelly has a long record of protest activity, particularly aligned with progressive causes that frequently place themselves in opposition to traditional Christian teaching. Rather than engaging in civil discourse, the activist has repeatedly chosen to invade church services—spaces historically regarded as sacred and protected—to confront believers during worship.

For many Christians, these incidents reflect a growing hostility toward biblical faith in the public square. Churches, once understood as neutral sanctuaries even amid political disagreement, are increasingly treated by radical activists as just another venue for ideological confrontation. The deliberate targeting of congregations signals not merely protest, but contempt for the free exercise of religion.

Scripture teaches that worship should be conducted “in spirit and in truth” and that believers should be able to gather peaceably without fear or intimidation. Interrupting worship services undermines not only basic civility, but the constitutional guarantee of religious liberty. When activists justify such behavior, it reveals how far some political movements have drifted from respecting conscience and ordered freedom.

The pattern also raises concerns about selective tolerance. While progressive activists often demand respect for their own beliefs and identities, they appear increasingly willing to violate the boundaries of Christian communities, particularly those perceived as conservative or influential.

As churches face mounting cultural pressure, incidents like these serve as a reminder that vigilance is required to preserve religious freedom. The right to worship without harassment is foundational—not granted by government, but recognized as a God-given liberty that must be defended.
