President Donald Trump is expected to intensify American military strikes against Iran following an attack that killed two U.S. service members and left another missing, according to a Fox News correspondent.

As reported by Mediaite, Fox News correspondent Lucas Tomlinson said the administration would likely increase the frequency and severity of its strikes in an effort to avenge the fallen Americans.

The two service members were killed July 17 while defending a base in Jordan against Iranian ballistic missiles and drones. U.S. Central Command confirmed that another service member remained missing and four others were transported to hospitals in Jordan following the attack.

“It’s a very challenging mission and operation for the U.S. military,” Tomlinson said during an appearance on Fox Report with Jon Scott.

Tomlinson said the difficulty of the mission was one reason American strikes had already increased. He added that the administration was seeking to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically vital maritime passage that has become a central focus of the conflict.

“Now you’ll likely see an increase in strikes to avenge the death of these two — and perhaps three — U.S. service members in the coming days,” Tomlinson said.

The reporter also said Trump administration officials believe China and Russia are assisting Iran in identifying and targeting American bases in the region. Mediaite reported that Iran’s considerable geographic size also gives its forces ample space to conceal the drones used in attacks.

The deaths bring the reported number of American service members killed since the beginning of Operation Epic Fury to 16. The military campaign began February 28 and has included repeated strikes against Iranian military targets. CENTCOM describes the operation as an effort to dismantle elements of the Iranian regime’s security apparatus that pose an imminent threat.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth honored the fallen Americans in a statement posted to X.

“Godspeed, heroes. Their sacrifice only stiffens our resolve,” Hegseth wrote.

The loss of American lives places a solemn responsibility on the nation’s leaders. Scripture teaches that civil authorities bear the duty of restraining evil and protecting the innocent. That authority must be exercised with wisdom, moral clarity and a sober understanding of the terrible human cost of war.

A strong response may be necessary to deter further attacks, but the administration must also clearly define its objectives and ensure that American troops are not placed in danger without a strategy worthy of their courage and sacrifice.

The nation should pray for the families of the fallen, for the safe recovery of the missing service member and for wisdom among those entrusted with decisions of war and peace.
